Q. How do I choose the right system?
A. Choosing the right system will be a combination of several factors; durability (low maintenance), aesthetic values and ease of installation. With Main Deck railings, pergolas, and lumber wraps you don't need to sacrifice beauty for durability. Our products are architecturally correct, low maintenance, easy to install, and reasonably priced.
Q. Can I paint Main Deck Products any color?
A. Yes! However, if the color you choose is dark with an LRV (light reflectance value) of 55 or lower you must use a vinyl safe paint such as Sherwin Williams Superpaint® with vinyl safe technology. Click here to view technical information on painting.
Q. How long will paint last?
A. Unlike wood, paint will last for the life of the paint typically 25 years or more. Because our products do not absorb moisture they will not peel and crack when painted properly. When paint is near the end of its life it will have an oxidized surface just as your car would if you never waxed it. Simply clean, power wash, and paint it again for another long lasting finish. Main Deck products do not absorb moisture so no worry about rot and decay
Q. How does painting cellular pvc make sense and how does the paint stick to Main Deck products?
A. Cellular pvc itself is vulnerable to UV light. It will become brittle and yellow. UV inhibitors are added to slow this process. Main Deck products are made with cellular pvc products. During the manufacture of cellular pvc materials a foaming agent is added in the production process to create microscopic air cells within the pvc. Once machined, the surface cells are opened permitting paint to penetrate and permanently bond. The fact that our product does not absorb moisture, rot, or decay allows you to paint without all the concearns associated with paint on wood. Simply make sure the surface is clean and dry then paint. Oh… and by the way, our pvc also has the same UV inhibitors.
Q. Do I have to paint Main Deck Products?
A. No Main Deck products will last as long if you don't paint them, however, the open cells will hold more dirt and moisture and may require more frequent cleaning in wet environments.
Q. Can insects damage Main Deck Products?
A. No! Our products are impervious to all insects including Termites!
Q. My architect has designed curves on my house. Can I get curved railings?
A. Yes! You can order rails as tight as a 12" radius.
Q. How about curved stairs?
A. Main Deck offers custom built stairs! Our stairs are built using fully welded Aluminum frames and fully assembled rails. Simply set the stairs in place and put your own treads on to match the rest of your project!
